Teachers to receive more than 30k benefits before 2020


Pursuant to DBM Budget Circular No. 2016-4, government workers' incentives, which includes Year-end Bonus and other benefits including Productivity Incentives and Christmas bonuses, shall be given to qualified government personnel not earlier than November 15 of the current year.

Who are qualified?

1. Those still in government service as of October 31 of the current year and with at least a total of four (4) months of service from January 1 to October 1 of the current year; or

2. Those who have retired or separated from government service before October 31 of the same year and have rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four (4) months of service from January 1 of the current year, shall be granted pro-rated year-end bonus and cash-gift, within the month of retirement or separation.

According to Republic Act 10963 (TRAIN LAW), personnel bonuses are exempted from tax if they do not exceed P 90,000.

On top of the aforementioned bonuses, government employees can also look forward to receiving their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) which will be released starting December 15.

Following the above guidelines, a Teacher 1 will receive a total of P30,754 before 2019 ends which is broken down into:

P 20,754 (Year-End Bonus - 1 month teacher basic salary)
P   5,000 (Cash Gift Bonus)
P   5,000 (PEI)
