According to a news report on Sunday, October 6, President Rodrigo Duterte assured teachers of a pay hike within the year.
At a press conference in Davao City during his return from Russia, Duterte mentioned that Cabinet members were discussing the teachers' salary increase at around 35 percent.
Although no specific timeframe was mentioned, the President assured teachers that their salary adjustment will be done.
This is after the nation celebrated World Teachers' Day on October 5, and following a series of pronouncements from the Senate to recognize the important role of teachers in nation-building.
