DepEd Qualification Standards SHS Teacher Application Checklist


A DepEd Memorandum has recently been issued requiring Regional Offices to file the summary of qualifications of Senior High school teacher-applicants who submitted their letters of intent last October 30, 2015.

It also includes the preliminary information regarding the qualification standards of SHS teachers as well as the corresponding salary grade.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS OF SHS TEACHERS
Position Title & Salary Grade Education Requirements Experience Requirements Training Requirements
Teacher II (Salary Grade 12) Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization; or any Bachelor's degree + at least 6 units towards a Master's degree in the area of specialization None None
Teacher III (Salary Grade 13) Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization; or any Bachelor's degree plus at least 12 units towards a Master's degree in the area of specialization 1 year relevant teaching / industry work experience 4 hours training relevant to the subject area of specialization
Master Teacher I (Salary Grade 18) Relevant Master's degree 4 years relevant teaching / industry work experience 8 hours training relevant to the subject area of specialization
Master Teacher II (Salary Grade 19) Relevant Master's degree 5 years relevant teaching / industry work experience 12 hours training relevant to the subject area of specialization
Master Teacher III (Salary Grade 19) Relevant Master's degree + 9 units Doctorate 5 years relevant teaching / industry work experience 16 hours training relevant to the subject area of specialization
Master Teacher IV (Salary Grade 19) Relevant Master's degree + 18 units Doctorate 6 years relevant teaching / industry work experience 20 hours training relevant to the subject area of specialization

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Regular applicants for a permanent position: RA 1080 (Teacher); if not, they must pass the LET within 5 years of hiring
  • Regular applicants for a part-time (contractual) position: None required
  • Practicioners (part-time only): None required

HI. If you are a BS. Nursing Graduate and you are teaching Science in the Core/Applied Subjects, will they credit MA in Nursing units to be qualified as a Teacher II/III? Thanks

This is part of the country's ongoing preparation for the full implementation of the K-12 program starting school year 2016-2017 through pay to have someone write a paper. The non-Depend schools pertain to private and technical-vocational institutions that applied for a senior high school permit.
