DepEd eyes Opening of Classes on August 24


BREAKING: The Department of Education has set the opening of school year 2020-2021 on August 24, 2020. In her LAGING HANDA press briefing, Secretary Leonore Briones, said that education must continue despite the present crisis due to the COViD-19 pandemic.

The Education Secretary stated consultations had been made to thousand of stakeholders via online surveys. She further emphasized the health and safety of the learners and teachers hence, online delivery, self-learning kits and virtual meetings will be taken into consideration.

Secretary Briones announced that by June 2020, public school teachers will start their official school duties and will be given capacity-building trainings in preparation for the "new normal". School Year 2020-2021 is scheduled to culminate by April 30, 2021.
