DOST Scholarship Grants for SHS Graduates of 2018


The Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provides scholarships to deserving and talented young people who wish to pursue lifetime careers in Science and Technology through its undergraduate scholarship programs.

A highly competitive science and technology scholarship examination is being administered annually wherein applicants should pass it as one of the eligibility requirements for the awarding of the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships. This examination shall be made available to incoming college freshmen who shall come from the first batch of the graduating students of the DepEd K-12 Program Senior High School.


RA 7687

Republic Act 7687, also known as "Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994", provides for scholarships to talented and deserving students whose families' socio-economic status do not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators.

Qualifiers must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering. other applied sciences and science and mathematics teaching.


MERIT 

The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarhip Program, formerly known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067, is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology


GENERAL CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY:
  • natural-born citizen;
  • member of the top five percent (5%) of the Non-STEM strand senior high school graduating class; or member of the STEM strand senior high school graduating class; 
  • of good moral character and in good health;
  • qualifier of the 2018 S&T Scholarship Examination 
(only for RA 7687)
  • poor, talented and deserving student who belongs to a a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators;
  • resident of the municipality for the last 4 years as attested by the barangay chairman

DOCUMENT TO BE SUBMITTED: 
  • Accomplished application form;
  • Photocopy of birth certificate;
  • Parents 2016 income tax return/W2/Employement contract. if OFW or Clear photocopy of the 4Ps ID or Municipal / Brgy. Certification that the applicant belongs to indigent family and his/her parents are exempted from filing of Income Tax Return 
  • Photocopy of the latest three consecutive months electric bill for 2017;
  • assessment form/statement of account from the private high school/scholarship certification (for RA 7687 applicants only);
  • Two recent 1x1" pictures 
  • If affiliated with a particular tribe, certification of membership from the local Office of Muslim Affairs (OMA)/National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP)

STUDY PLACEMENT:

State Universities and Colleges;
CHED identified Center of Excellence (COE); or
Centers of Development (COD) for the priority S&T courses


RETURN OF SERVICE CONDITION:

Upon completion of the S&T course, the scholar-graduate shall render service in the country preferably along his/her fields of specialization on a full-time basis for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time he/she availed the scholarship
