Classroom Projector Teacher's Buying Guide

With the advancement of technology and decreasing attention span of students, teachers need to employ various methods to keep learners focused inside the classroom. Gone are the days of Manila paper and cartolina as most teachers nowadays use a common teaching tool of the Information Age - the classroom projector.

Almost every teacher would like to have their classrooms equipped with a projector ready for use anytime but with budget constraints, this teaching resource remains elusive for many schools. Also, with the proliferation of projector brands in the market, some teachers are having a hard time finding the right combination of price and product specification.

Most popular brands like Epson, BenQ or Acer would meet the typical classroom requirement but unfortunately they are way too expensive. Some LED projectors that are being offered online range below 5000 pesos but it's like throwing away money as they would be worthless in a classroom setting especially those with 40-800 lumens (read: stay away!).

Sad to say, many teachers have fallen prey to these offers that really don't match their needs.

The product list below was the result of a teacher's hunt for an affordable but quality classroom projector. The major considerations are the following:

  • Lumens (at least 2000, the higher the better)
  • Contrast (2000:1 or 3000:1, the higher the better)
  • Resolution (1280 x 800 Pixels, Full HD the better)
  • Reliability (lamp life rating 20000 hours or higher)
  • Ports & Settings Control (USB, TV Tuner, VGA, HDMI, Keystone, etc.)
  • and of course, Pricing (below 10,000 Pesos is a steal!)
